- discuss the practical applications of evidence related to a relevant issue facing healthcare leadership
- share leading-edge strategies for driving high-performing and high-quality healthcare across the continuum of care, at the institutional, provincial or territorial levels
Topics of past CEO Forums:
- 2010: Metrics for Healthcare Quality: The Leader’s Role
- 2009: Service-based Funding and Paying for Performance: Experience, Evidence and Future Prospects

- 2007: Healthcare Sustainability in Canada: Who Will Tell the Story?
Background:
Always hosted in February, the first CEO Forum took place in 2007 as part of the Executive Training for Research Application (EXTRA) program. EXTRA is a two-year fellowship for senior health leaders and policymakers. As part of the fellowship, fellows undertake a change management (intervention) project. During the last learning module of the program, fellows present and report, with their chief executives, the findings of their intervention project. It is during this module that the CEO Forum takes place. Although the forum was originally intended to bring together the CEOs and fellows from EXTRA’s sponsoring organizations, in 2009 it started to welcome broader participation by including a pan-Canadian group of senior decision and policy makers, as well as prominent experts.
The CEO Forum is hosted by the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation in collaboration with the Canadian Medical Association and the Association of Canadian Academic Healthcare Organizations.
